Agnes Treherne: Kindred Land presents an intimate body of work that explores the intersection of family, memory, and the landscapes that shape our lives. Treherne’s paintings, such as the monumental Tending Apple Trees, transform the everyday care of the natural world into something mythic and dream-like.

A unique highlight of this exhibition is the exploration of intergenerational influence; Agnes has selected three works by her mother, artist and illustrator Katie Thamer Treherne, to be shown alongside her own. These pieces sit together to tell a story of family life and the emotional resonance embedded in the land. Treherne’s signature style, characterised by softly layered textures and evocative color palettes, captures fleeting moments with a sense of reverence, creating scenes that feel both deeply personal and universal.

Agnes Treherne (b.1987) studied Fine Art and History of Art at the University of Edinburgh, graduating in 2010. She then went on to study at The Royal Drawing School from 2019-2021. Treherne has exhibited across the UK and internationally.
