David Stonehouse (b. 1968)
David Stonehouse studied Silversmithing and Jewellery at Sheffield City Polytechnic followed by two years working as Studio Assistant for Professor David Watkins, at the Royal College of Art, London. Following an MA in Industrial Design, David went on to enjoy an active career as designer and management consultant before shifting direction -in his words returning to his craft roots – to design and make refined objects in both ceramic and metal. He is based in Cambridge.
“My pieces are the product of an ongoing exploration of the relationship between form and surface, and function and detailing. Through my wheel-thrown vessels I’m looking to create objects that draw the user in to look closer and savour a given moment.”
