We are delighted to host an Artist Coffee Morning and Natural Dye Talk with Amber Fry on Sunday 1st November at 11am
This is a free event, no booking required.
The youngest exhibitor in the Textiles Today? exhibition, Amber Fry (b.2001), graduated from Central St Martins in 2025 with a BA in Textile Design. She is the founder of natural dye studio Ambers Alchemy exploring the expressive potential of botanical colour. Working with homegrown plants from her allotment in Kent, Amber develops vibrant and nuanced dye palettes that expand perceptions of sustainable colour. Over the past seven years, Amber has cultivated over 20 varieties of plant for natural dyes, and her vivid palette comes “from fusing ancient knowledge with a deep understanding of growth cycles, harvesting, weather and more.”
“My practice bridges artisan economies and commercial markets, proving that beauty and responsibility can coexist. From seed to cloth, every stage regenerates rather than depletes, challenging the textile industry’s extractive models.”
Amber has won multiple awards and prizes, including the Green Grads Earth Award, the Textiles Society Anne Morrell Prize, and the TEX+ Trustees’ Prize for Sustainability & Ethical Practice.
