Gillies Jones
Studio Gillies Jones is a Yorkshire hot glass studio run by the life and creative partnership of Stephen Gillies b. 1967 and Kate Jones b. 1966. The pair met when Gillies was studying glass design at Stourbridge and Jones fine art and they established their studio in 1995. They have received worldwide recognition for their complex cameo works, the traditional methods they use are practised by only a few glass makers across the world. This process involves the folding of different coloured glass bubbles over each other to produce a complex multi-layered and coloured piece. Works are in many public and private collections including: Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge; Ebeltoft Glass Museum, Denmark; Kanazawa, Japan; Bowes Museum and V & A Museum, London.
This engraved bowl is inspired by nature's elemental beauty, the repetition of a single leaf gives this bowl a strong vivid design.
These pieces make an eye catching graphic statement. Each of the bowls has a white rim, and is finely engraved on the inside of the piece.
Expertly made by master glassmaker Stephen Gillies, the design is engraved by Kate Jones.
Each one is signed on the foot, as a guarantee of authenticity.
