About the Artist:

Born in Leeds in 1938, Norman Ackroyd RA CBE (1938 – 2024) studied at Leeds College of Art before attending the Royal College of Art. He is best known for his etchings and aquatint and is considered one of Britain’s most celebrated printmakers. He was elected a Royal Academician in 1988, was made a Senior Fellow of the Royal College of Art in 2000 and was awarded a CBE for services to engraving and printing in 2007. Public collections include the Tate Gallery, the British Museum and the Arts Council in London; the National Galleries of Canada, Norway, England, Scotland, South Africa and the USA. Other collections include the Museum of Modern Art (MIMA) in New York, the Rijksmuseum and Stedelijk Museums in Amsterdam, City Museums in Vienna, Geneva, Chicago, Harvard and the Royal Collection.

Norman Ackroyd died peacefully at his home in Bermondsey on Monday 16th September 2024. For this reason, there are limited prints remaining in these editions. Please contact us on info@fendittongallery.com for availablity.
