About the artist

Alison Hart-Arkley is a Suffolk-based printmaker specialising in collagraph and drypoint techniques. A graduate of Central Saint Martins (BA Fine Art) and the Cambridge School of Art (MA Illustration and Book Arts), her practice is defined by a resourceful approach to materials. She frequently recycles food packaging to serve as printing plates, experimenting with the technical constraints of these found surfaces while using non-toxic inks.

Her subject matter shifts between the structural lines of urban landscapes and the stillness of intimate, private spaces. The window remains a recurring theme in her work, acting as a point of focus for exploring light and boundary. By pushing the physical limits of the collagraph process, she translates these scenes into textured, atmospheric prints.

Hart-Arkley is deeply integrated into the regional arts community. She is a founding member of the Bury Sketchers group and maintains an active role in collaborative projects with local printmakers. Her work balances these collective efforts with a personal studio practice focused on the tactile potential of repurposed materials and the quiet observation of her surroundings.
