About the artist

Based in East Anglia, Karina Savage is a printmaker whose work functions as a means of understanding memory and investigating the notion of place. After graduating from Camberwell School of Art in Three-Dimensional Design and working in education, she completed advanced printmaking training at the Curwen Print Study Centre under Stanley Jones. She now serves as the lead tutor for their Certificate in Fine Art Printmaking.

Her practice utilises relief and planographic processes to explore themes of repetition, interruption, and juxtaposition. Through an abstracted visual language, she uses a restrained palette of colour, line, and shape to record the dialogue between external observation and internal feeling. These prints are not literal depictions but distillations, paring down experiences to their essential elements to define the boundary between what was seen and what is remembered.

Working through concepts of order and disorder, Karina seeks a sense of quietness within the noise of the everyday. Her landscapes are stripped to their bare bones, attempting to capture a specific, personal peace within her own history and surroundings.
