About the artist
Based in East London and a member of the Printmakers Council, Lorraine Botbol maintains a practice that balances traditional techniques with contemporary methods. The core of her work is a fascination with the human figure, specifically its inherent vulnerability, strength, and emotional complexity. Through the physical process of printmaking, she attempts to capture these qualities and engage the viewer in a dialogue regarding identity and the shared human experience.
Each piece is approached as a medium for storytelling. By exhibiting in varied spaces, Botbol contributes to the current landscape of the discipline while remaining committed to the enduring power of manual print processes. Her intention is for the work to act as a point of human expression, using the specific constraints and possibilities of the medium to articulate emotion.
