About the artist
Poppy Fraser is a multidisciplinary artist based in Glasgow. After graduating from the Glasgow School of Art in 2023 with first class honours in Fine Art, she received several notable accolades, including the RSA New Contemporaries award, the Royal Glasgow Institute Graduate Award, and the Glasgow Print Studio prize. Her practice is primarily informed by photography, using both found family archives and her own images to capture specific moments in time.
These photographic starting points are translated through painting and printmaking to investigate themes of memory, nostalgia, and family roots. By working across different mediums, Fraser explores the preservation of time and the complexities of feminine identity. Her process often involves a tension between the immediate documentation of a photograph and the slower, more tactile output of her studio work.
Fraser’s work is held in the Glasgow School of Art print archive and the Dumfries House collection, following a printmaking residency with the Royal Drawing School in 2024. A member of the Glasgow Print Studio and the First Etch Glasgow collective, she exhibits frequently across Scotland. Recent exhibitions include RSA New Contemporaries at the Royal Scottish Academy, Weird Studies at The Alchemy Experiment, and First Impressions at the Heriot Gallery in Edinburgh.
