About the artist

Qinlin Yang is a London-based artist whose practice focuses on printmaking and illustration. Following a background in space and environmental design in Taipei and Beijing, she completed an MA in Illustration and Book Arts at Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge. Her work frequently employs the mezzotint process, a technique she used to explore urban environments in her 2026 solo exhibition, Observing London, at the CCA Art Gallery in Hong Kong.

Yang’s practice is heavily influenced by international residencies and collaborative projects. She has participated in several residencies in Germany at Künstlerstadt Kalbe, which resulted in duo exhibitions such as Trace and Soap Room. These projects often investigate the physical and metaphorical imprints left by human presence. In the UK, her work has been supported by residencies at East London Printmakers and the Swiss Cottage Gallery. Beyond her studio work, she engages in community-based practices, including workshops at the Ruskin School of Art that explore memory and sensory experience.

A frequent exhibitor in juried shows, Yang has seen her work included in the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition and the International Original Print Exhibition at Bankside Gallery. Her technical proficiency in printmaking has been recognised with the 2025 Hawthorn Printmaker Supplies Award and the John Purcell Paper Prize. She has also received recognition in the field of illustration, earning a merit from the 3x3 Illustration Awards and being shortlisted for the World Illustration Awards. In addition to her creative output, Yang has served as an associate lecturer at Anglia Ruskin University and previously directed the 044 Art Studio in London.
