About the artist:

Carol Robertson b. 1955 Berkshire

Lives and works in London.

Carol Robertson studied at Cardiff and Chelsea School of Art.  Her paintings remain firmly rooted within reductive abstract conventions. Although she doesn’t seek to confirm or record the way the world looks, her work is never disconnected from it. She continues to make an informal relationship with landscape, architecture, nature and the environment. Her current work employs familiar geometric formations, particularly circles, but in recent years she has also deconstructed the circle into arcs, thereby exploring a more disruptive asymmetry. Throughout her career she has chosen to use the square, rectangle and circle for their ideal power, for their aesthetic beauty.

Colour is the key to unlocking her meditations, each a version of memory, imagination and sensory experience.

Public collections include:  Artotheque d’Annecy, France; Arts Council of Great Britain, London; Ballinglen Museum of Contemporary Art, Ireland; Bodelwydden Castle, Wales; Contemporary Art Society, London; Dorset County Hospital; Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge; Government Art Collection, London;London College of Furniture.

Kip has made two limited edition prints in collaboration with Carol at the studio – ‘Navajo’ and ‘Maya’; a number of her prints’ titles have been influenced by a trip to Central America that she took in 2013.
