Daphne Carnegy: Green Umbellifer Jug

Daphne Carnegy b.1947 studied French at Nottingham University and worked in publishing before starting to study pottery, first at evening class, then as an apprentice with a series of faience potters in France and finally at Harrow School of Art. She has an independent studio in London from which she has developed an original body of handthrown tinglazed domestic earthenware, building on the European faience or majolica tradition. Most of her images are drawn from studies of plants and she has also published two books on majolica pottery.
