About the artist:

Ian Chamberlain’s work reinterprets manmade structures as monuments placed within the landscape, acting as architectural metaphors of past and current technological achievements, inspired by a long-standing fascination with technology and architectural forms. Synthetic Landscape I is part of a series of prints concentrating on the human basic need for protection and shelter. The prints emphasis and capture layered architectural forms, showing them in a state of flux and transition, a transient structure to be transported or left behind. The series are a result of an emerging inter-disciplinary approach combining drawing, photographic and hand-printed methods.

In 2022, Chamberlain was awarded the Royal West of England Academy Drawing Prize and has previously been shortlisted for the Derwent Drawing Prize, Evelyn Williams Drawing Award and the Jerwood Drawing Prize. His work is held in major UK public collections, including Victoria and Albert Museum, Tate Modern and the Pallant House Gallery.
