  • Nik Pollard is a Bristol-based painter, printmaker and illustrator whose work is rooted in close observation of the natural world. Born and raised in Bristol, Pollard developed an early interest in wildlife and the rhythms of landscape, interests that continue to shape his practice today. He studied Natural History Illustration at the Royal College of Art, graduating in 1998, where he refined a disciplined approach to drawing directly from life.

Pollard’s paintings and drawings are often developed through extended periods working outdoors, responding to specific places and ecosystems through sustained observation. His practice moves between fieldwork and studio experimentation, where printmaking allows him to further explore the textures, marks and impressions gathered on site. Through this process he seeks to capture not only the appearance of a landscape or species, but also the atmosphere, rhythm and sense of time embedded within it.
