About the artist
Theo Miller is an artist who works primarily with letterpress within a visual arts context. His practice utilises the technologies of printed language, specifically through the inherent limitations of metal letterpress type. Each work is printed by hand, slowly built colour by colour and layer by layer. This manual pace serves as a deliberate contrast to the instant consumption of intangible images found on screens and phones.
His recent prints, such as ‘I Thought We Would Have More Time’, serve as reflections on love, loss and grief. Through these works, Miller explores the healing respite found in nature and the outdoors, specifically through the acts of walking, exploration and rest.
A graduate of De Montfort University, Miller has held solo exhibitions including ‘The Time It Takes’ at Wrexham University School of Art and ‘The New Custodian’ at Leicester Print Workshop. He has been a printmaking technician at De Montfort University since 2016 and founded Printmaking Services in 2022. His residency experience includes time at Thin Ice Press in York and an AA2A Residency at Loughborough University.
Miller’s work has been recognised through various awards, such as the Lucy Phillips Arts Fund in 2025 and the Arts Council England Developing Your Creative Practice grant in 2023. He has exhibited internationally and is currently a member of the British Printing Society.
