An Eye on the Ringed Plover: Wynona Legg on Art and Conservation

Join us on Wednesday 15 April, 6–8pm for an evening with artist and conservationist Wynona Legg, whose work explores the fragile coastal habitats of East Anglia and the birds that depend on them. A collection of these works are currently exhibited in The Presence of Birds(14th March - 26th April 2026).

Alongside her artistic practice, Wynona works full time as Project Officer for the RSPB Plovers in Peril project, which focuses on protecting vulnerable breeding populations of Ringed Plover along the Norfolk coastline. Her observations as both an artist and a conservationist have given her an intimate understanding of the lives of Ringed Plover and the tensions and impacts of beach recreation on their lives.  In this talk, she will share insights from her time in the field, speaking about the challenges facing these small but resilient shorebirds and the practical conservation work helping to safeguard their future.

The event offers a chance to hear directly about the intersection of art, observation and conservation, and how creative practice can deepen our understanding of threatened landscapes. The event is free to attend, but booking is essential. Voluntary cash donations on the night are warmly encouraged to help support the Plovers in Peril project and its ongoing conservation work.
