Jacob Monk (b. 1993)
Jacob Monk graduated from the Central St Martin’s and the Royal College of Art. In 2024, he was awarded the prestigious Garfield Weston Foundation Fellowship, which funded a trip to Kyoto, where he studied Japanese ‘kasuri’ technique at the Kawashima Textile School under master weaver Jun Tomita. Since his return, Monk has been working on a new series of hand-dyed Japanese paper yarn warp, of which these pieces are part of.
Monk first exhibited at Fen Ditton Gallery in May 2025 as part of the Copper and Wool exhibition.
