Jill Fanshawe Kato (b. 1943)
After graduating in Fine Art, Jill studied ceramics in Japan for four years and has subsequently had 46 exhibitions in Japan and many more in Britain and internationally. The natural world and travel are her main inspirations. Her ceramics forms are mainly hand built and imagery is of birds, animals and plants and small creatures such as grasshoppers and shrimps. Recent sculptural boats are a new direction and in 2025 she has fired work in gas kilns and a Japanese-style Anagama.
Jill lives and works in the Devonshire countryside.
